First of all: This is not about torture or sadism. If you want that, watch Saw.

I’ll try to put this one in an equation, though I got no glimpse what connectors would be appropriate.
1st: Waz (2007) is set in a filthy, dark, violent and depressing world. (reminds of Se7en (1995))
2nd you got a sadistic rape that proviously set the outlined story in motion.
3rd: A really intelligent (not Lecter-intelligent-but-weird) and focused killer slowly encircles it’s final victim because latter had tipped the scales towards severe suffering for the killer in the past.
4th: The whole WΔz = cov(w_i z_i )= β_wz V_z - thing gives the flic a really nice touch and leads to the surprising 5th factor in this little movie-equation-trial: This is about love (without any romantic scene), especially for hardcore idealists, who keep beleaving in it though having been beaten down every time this feeling emerged in their lives.
6th: Tom Shankland and Clive Bradley as director and scripter plus all the production designers and cast just got it all right. This is one of the few films where everything fits perfect and works right along all the 100 minutes it lasts.
